Hair

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

"Look at all that hair!" is something we commonly hear when out and about. Kaylee has had a lot of dark hair since she was born, and its been growing ever since. Little Rachel may have a little more, but I'm sure both of their mommies will be investing in Johnson's No Tangles somewhere down the road.

Good Times with Good Friends

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Someone had an awfully good time in Missouri this weekend. And so did her parents!

We trekked over to Kansas City for Labor Day weekend to visit friends and had a blast checking things out...BBQ (of course), Bass Pro and Cabella's (for the boys), and Santa-Cali-Gon Days (with some crafts for the girls). We can't forget some quality time hanging out by the fire in the evening. One of the most interesting little thing this weekend? Rootbeer milk. That's right, rootbeer milk. Its awesome and we brought some home, along with some strawberry milk. Too bad you can only get it in Missouri and Kansas.
A trip to Cabella's isn't complete without a buying something camo

Meeting Up With Friends: Part 2

Friday, April 23, 2010

After church on Sunday, we headed to Indiana to have lunch at the Beef House. We were meeting up with the Alderks and the Stewarts...of which Dave, AJ, and Sondra were all college roommates of mine as well.

We had a great time! It was a lot of fun catching up while eating some fantastic food. It was both Kaylee and Carter's first trip to another state and Kaylee got to meet Bella (born in January) and Lilly, but more importantly we were celebrating Sondra's last chemo treatment! Way to go Sondra...you are such an inspiring woman!

Meeting Up With Friends:Part 1

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Last weekend was a big weekend for Kaylee. She got to meet lots of future friends and possible future husbands.

Friday we met up with one of my college roommates and her adorable kids for lunch. Unfortunately I forgot my camera, but we had a great time. It won't be long before Kaylee will be able to play with Olivia (4) and Hunter (2).

Then on Saturday, we headed over to Mahomet to meet up with Dawn & Doug who were in town, along with the Alderks and the Nuttersons. We finally got the chance to meet Rosalie who was born in January and see Carter who was born in November. Another playgroup in the making! We also kid that Kaylee is Carter's girlfriend...who know's? Maybe someday!

One More Stop

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

While spending time in the Hoosier state, we detoured north on our way home to visit Sondra & AJ, and of course their two little cuties, Lilly & Bella.

Baby Bella is just over a month old. We haven't seen the Stewart's since before Christmas and it was great to meet the new addition to the family.

Big sis loves her train set and put it out in the living for us to see.

Why don't we just call this a "milk coma"

Sweet baby Bella can't keep her eyes off of mommy.

Fun in Indy

Monday, February 22, 2010

This past weekend, we heady to Indy to meet up with a couple of Ron's college roommates/buddies. I haven't laughed so hard in quite some time. While most of the conversations included trips down memory lane (to some extent, at least), a lot of new fun memories were made as well.

Meet Corey and Eric...they are a riot, to say the least.

This is Corey's wife, Ashley. "No pictures, please."

"Well, maybe one, but with Doyle. He acts normal in front of the camera."
Unlike my hubby, who feels the need to make faces as well.

Once again, we failed to get a group photo at our yearly get-together (which is okay by me -as you can probably tell, my face is getting rounder, as is the baby belly, and the swelling goes all the way down to the feet).

Farm Show Recap

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

What a great mid-winter vacation! We headed to Louisville with good friends Doug and Angie on Thursday and spent the next couple of days checking out the latest in farm machinery, crop innovations, and of course, the tractor pull championships.

After three days of walking and sitting through 4 tractors pulls, my muscles definitely got a workout. Angie and I have decided we're going to have to go through training before hitting the Louisville Exposition Center next year.

There were SO MANY exhibits with lots of cool things to see (and cool people too, right Adrienne?). I didn't get a lot of pictures - there were so many people, but here are few of the highlights.

The tractors pulls were AWESOME - there were so many great tractors there from 20 different states and the Netherlands. That's right, the Netherlands. "Turnin' it Loose" came in second in the finals after a fantastic pull off with with Elnino. We also were able to see one of the top young pullers...who happens to be a girl...this weekend. Jessica Jacks is only a senior in high school, but has had a very successful year. Unfortunately, she finished second in the finals, but had a great qualifying round.

See here for complete results of the tractor pull. Now, does anyone want to sponsor a SuperFarm tractor for Ron and Doug next year?

Meet Me in St. Louis

Monday, January 19, 2009

This weekend we met up with these yahoos in St. Louis. Corey and Eric are college buddies of Ron. While Eric only lives about two hours away, Corey & Ashley live in Kentucky, and unfortunately, we all don't get together very often.

It was a great weekend and we had a lot of fun. We heard countless Carbondale/Saluki stories. Let's just be glad I met Ron after his time at southern. I definitely wouldn't have been able to keep up with the three of them.

Between stories we spent time supporting the local economy -- if you know what I mean. But, we did check out a few things - we headed out to a boat show Saturday morning and did the Anheuser Busch tour (which was pretty cool) in the afternoon. We spent a little time at Union Station, but not nearly enough for me. I definitely want to go back and see more.

Saturday night met up with Ron's cousin Mandi (also a southern grad) and her husband Matt. Can you believe 7 grown adults spent 3 hours at Dave and Buster's? Better yet, can you believe I failed to get a group shot from the weekend? Pure failure on my part. My number one mission the next time we all get together.

What a great, great weekend! It's a good thing I had Sunday afternoon to catch up on some much needed rest like this guy.

Congrats..

Throw Up Your Rock Fists

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Picture this: grown adults on a Saturday night hanging out, having fun, enjoying each other's company. It's great to have such awesome friends. And now I have reasons to love them even more.

We've entered a new era in our lives: Rock Band - the video game. That's right, those adults spent Saturday night playing rock band. And I'm sure the others are really happy that the photos that were taken are on Dawn's camera and not mine.....no public embarrassment. Anyway, I'm getting off the subject. Ron and I have not been privy to this game before. The others.....let's say they've been practicing. And they're competitive. SO DON'T SCREW UP!!!! Because when you screw up...you lose your video game fans. That's right, you're playing gigs and earning fans...and probably other stuff too, I just don't know what that is. I was laughing so hard I was crying. I did take a shot at bass guitar though. And it was fun. I can't wait until the next time we can hang out, and throw up our rock fists!

Ron and I have been thinking though, we think the country version is definitely more our style and what would be better than getting to play the video game electric fiddle???

Windy City Wednesday

I'll have to get back to our trip to the zoo, but I wanted to share some favorite photos from Navy Pier.
