On Saturday, Ron had a class trip to Starved Rock State Park. His field botany class has 4 trips this summer and this was the second one (we missed the first). There's nothing like throwing 2 aggies out in the middle of forest to try and identify some plants :)
We actually had a pretty good time (even with the homework that Ron had to do while hiking). We saw a lot...but then again we hiked a little more than 6 miles that day. Most of the paths are wooden or paved with gravel. Be warned there are several steep staircases - but what goes up must come down! Needless to say, we were a little sore the next morning. Here's some photos from our day at Starved Rock. If you ever get the chance to go, we highly recommend it. There are some spectacular views!

Great shots, especially the waterfall! I've never been there but have been to Turkey Run SP and KickapooSP a bunch of times..:-)
Nice water fall, is the look out looking at the Mississippi? We have a State Park outside of Savanna that you can look out over the Mississippi.
